The law firm was founded in 2005 by Professor Dr. Calixto Salomão Filho, and the scope of its practice is to prepare legal opinions and provide expert advice on complex matters, both in advisory and litigation spheres, either in national or international context.

The firm’s practice is focused on topics related mainly to corporate law, antitrust law, regulation, capital markets, corporate governance, contracts, intellectual property, corporate reorganization’s, M&A transactions, rights and duties of the company and its shareholders regarding the environment, its employees and the community in which its operations take place.

Calixto Salomão Filho

Calixto Salomão Filho was born in 1965. In 1984, by the age of 19, he begun his studies at Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco – FDUSP, where he obtained his law degree in 1988. On the following year, he went to Rome, where he initiated his PhD at Universita degli Studi La Sapienza. He concluded his thesis in 1992, whose title is “La società unipersonale - profili di responsabilità”. He obtained his “livre-docência” (“habilitation thesis”) at 1996 from Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo with the thesis named “Análise jurídica do poder econômico dos mercados: uma perspectiva estrutural”. Calixto was visiting fellow at Max Planck Institut in Hamburg (1991/1992 e 1993), as well as at Yale Law School (visiting scholar in 1994/1995; visiting fellow, John M. Olin Fellowship for Studies in Capitalism, in 1999). In 2002, he became full professor (“professor titular”) at Faculdade de Direito da USP – where he had graduated – and begun teaching commercial law and antitrust law classes. Calixto was also invited to lecture at Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques – SCIENCES PO in Paris in 2007, where he still lectures until nowadays. Furthermore, Calixto lectured at Yale Law School in 2017 as a Visiting Professor.

 

In order to introduce empirical research at Faculdade de Direito da USP, he founded a study group named “Direito e Pobreza”, whose goal is to study the historical evolution of poverty in Brazil as well as the legal and economic structures that influenced it. Calixto has written many books about commercial law, antritrust law and general theory of economic power, in Brazil and overseas, among which there are: O novo direito societário (Saraiva, 2019), Monopolies and underdevelopment – from colonial past to global reality (E. Elgar, 2015), Legal theory of economic power (E.Elgar, 2011), Histoire critique des monopoles (LGDJ, 2010), Teoria crítico-estruturalista do direito commercial (Marcial Pons, 2.015), Direito concorrencial (Malheiros, 2013), A sociedade unipessoal (Malheiros, 1995) e Regulação da Atividade Econômica (Quartier Latin, 2021).. Calixto Salomão Filho has more than 25 years of experience as a laywer. He is the Vice Presidente of the Câmara Arbitral do Mercado (CAM) and also a member of the scientific counsel of the Institute for Global Law and Policy (IGLIP) at Harvard Law School. A Portuguese native, Calixto is fluent in English, French, Italian and German.

Vitor Henrique Pinto Ido

Vitor Henrique Pinto Ido graduated in law at the Faculdade de Direito do Largo de São Francisco – FDUSP (2014), with an exchange period at the Sciences Po – Paris economic law master’s program (2012-2013), and in Social Sciences at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences, University of São Paulo – FFLCH/USP (2017). He has obtained a Master in Human Rights at FDUSP (2017) and a PhD in Commercial Law at the same institution (2021). Vitor is also a researcher at the intergovernmental organization South Centre (Geneva), in the Health, Intellectual Property and Biodiversity Program. He has considerable professional experience, mostly in the following topics: intellectual property (pharmaceutical patents and traditional knowledge), commercial and economic law, law and new technologies, development studies and underdevelopment theory, as well as law and anthropology. Vitor, a Portuguese native speaker, can also speak English, French, Spanish and German.

Suely Yoshimi Etagaki

Suely Yoshimi Etagaki graduated in business administration at the Instituto Metodista de Ensino Superior de São Bernardo do Campo (1984). Suely works as administrative assistance since 2001. She entered the firm in 2016 and since then she has been responsible for the administrative and financial departments.
